Role Purpose
The Network Engineer is responsible for managing, optimizing, and supporting network infrastructure to ensure high service availability and customer satisfaction. This role involves hands-on work with technologies such as Cisco, F5, Palo Alto, and SD-WAN, and supports both BAU and project-based activities. The engineer collaborates with internal teams and customers to resolve network issues, implement changes, and contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
Network Operations & Troubleshooting
- Monitor and manage network incidents, service requests, and changes.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement solutions to minimize recurring issues.
- Support resolution of high-priority incidents and participate in on-call support roster.
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers for planning, delivery, and reporting of network-related activities.
- Support customer transitions and ensure timely delivery of network services.
Technical Expertise
- Configure and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Apply knowledge of routing, switching, VPN, SDN, and wireless technologies.
- Automate network functions using scripting where applicable.
System Use & Compliance
- Utilize monitoring and helpdesk tools (e.g., Spectrum, OpsRamp, ServiceNow).
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, ITIL standards, and customer SLAs.
- Maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams and support manuals.
Collaboration & Communication
- Build effective relationships with internal teams and customer contacts.
- Provide guidance and training to junior engineers.
- Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Other Duties
- Participate in interest groups and contribute to continuous service improvement plans.
- Maintain and acquire technical certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE).
- Complete mandatory training and submit timesheets accurately and on time.
- Complete other task as assigned by manager or by the company
Qualifications
Must-Have Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in enterprise-scale LAN/WAN environments.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, F5, Palo Alto, and load balancing technologies.
- Certified in network technologies (e.g., CCNP, CCDP, CCIE).
- Proficient in using monitoring and helpdesk tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Spectrum).
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- ITIL certification.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Cisco IP Telephony and Wireless.
- Scripting for network automation.
- Experience in vendor/outsourcing environments.
- Ability to manage multiple customer accounts and support other engineers.
