Role Purpose:
The Finance Team Lead – General Ledger is responsible for leading and developing a team of finance professionals to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant General Ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, and forecasting activities. The role ensures effective workload management, strong financial controls, prompt resolution of accounting issues, and high-quality support to business stakeholders, while driving employee engagement, process standardisation, automation, and continuous improvement across finance operations.
Job Description:
• Lead and oversee the Finance–General Ledger team, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of journal processing, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting, forecasting, and related finance activities.
• Plan and coordinate team workloads, priorities, and close calendars to ensure month-end deadlines, service-level commitments, and quality standards are consistently met.
• Maintain a strong control environment by monitoring compliance, reviewing audit findings, implementing corrective actions, and escalating material financial or operational risks.
• Manage team performance through goal setting, regular coaching, constructive feedback, recognition, development planning, and succession support.
• Build team capability through cross-training, knowledge sharing, standard operating procedures, and effective coverage planning.
• Drive continuous improvement and standardisation by identifying opportunities for automation, simplification, stronger controls, and more efficient finance processes.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex accounting issues, delivery concerns, and stakeholder queries, coordinating resolution with relevant finance and business partners.
Requirements:
• Minimum of five years of relevant experience in General Accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and financial statement analysis within a BPO or shared services environment, including at least two years in a team lead, supervisory, or people-management capacity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field; Certified Public Accountant or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of International Accounting Standards, with the ability to apply accounting policies, exercise sound judgement, and guide team members on complex accounting matters.
• Demonstrated experience leading month-end close, journal processing, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, and issue resolution while meeting service-level, quality, and control requirements.
• Proven people-leadership skills, including workload planning, delegation, coaching, performance management, capability development, cross-training, and succession planning.
• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to present financial results, influence decisions, manage expectations, resolve conflicts, and escalate risks appropriately.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, address root causes, and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
• Sound understanding of internal controls, audit requirements, risk management, compliance, and the timely resolution of control deficiencies and aged balance sheet items.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements, standardisation, automation, and efficiency initiatives across finance operations.
• Ability to work extended hours during month-end close and forecasting periods and, when business requirements demand, on Philippine holidays.
