The quantum research group in Fujitsu Research of America (FRA) is seeking graduate students for internship position focusing on research and development in quantum algorithms, applications, error-correction, and platform technologies that will be incorporated into Fujitsu's future quantum computer hardware. They be used to strengthen Fujitsu's quantum computing stack and quantum computing offerings in various fields such as healthcare, material science, and finance. The successful candidate may work locally in our Santa Clara, CA office or remotely in the US.
Job responsibilities:
- The primary responsibility vary depending on the topic the candidate is hired for.
- Quantum algorithms: Develop novel quantum algorithms (for fault-tolerant quantum devices or NISQ devices or both) and demonstrate their applicability for real-world business problems. Design experiments that can be run on quantum hardware or simulators to demonstrate quantum advantage whenever applicable.
- Quantum error-correction: Develop novel quantum error-correcting codes, decoding technique, and/ or logical quantum circuits based on the code construction.
- Platform technologies: Develop quantum compilation technologies for efficient execution of quantum circuits on Fujitsu's hardware.
- Publish research papers in reputed scientific journals, conferences, and/ or workshops. Showcase the work via presentation in invited talks, conferences and workshops, and/ or poster sessions.
- Advance team as well as FRA goals through academic as well as industrial collaborations.
Essential requirements:
- Pursuing Masters' or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field with extensive research background in the area of quantum computing (for roles in algorithms and error-correction) and AI & ML (for platform).
- Strong research record demonstrated by accepted or published research papers in high quality conferences and/ or journals.
Preferred requirements:
- Knowledge of areas such as financial modeling, machine learning, and optimization where quantum algorithmic applications can be found.
- Coding experience in C++, JAVA, or Python.
Fujitsu salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each situation. The pay range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: specific skills, qualifications, experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. The pay range for this position is estimated at $35/hr. to $50/hr. USD.
