Solution Architect : Roles and Responsibilities – Pre Sales and Business Development

  • Development of strategic approaches for NDI in vertical go-to-market initiatives as well as thought leadership for communication of reference architectures
  • Pre-sale engagement design formation (technical design and analysis) .
  • Communication of network designs to various stake holders, 3rd party vendor evaluation and selection, support technical change management for the network design as it is being deployed
  • Must be able to support delivery of high-level engineering and migration plans (on need basis) supporting various Tier1/Tier 2 ISP customer network migrations with Nokia or Cisco legacy platforms.
  • Published whitepapers and perform speaking engagements for the target markets.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science , Telecommunication, or related field. 
  • CCIE / JNCIE equivalent NOKIA certifications highly preferred or equivalent qualification or deep understanding of the concepts and related working experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of enterprise networks, service provider networks, Data Center Leaf/ Spine Architectures, broadband access, and SD-WAN is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and prior experience in presenting complex solutions to large enterprise or State and Local Government customers. 
  • Understanding of the networking concepts and guidelines behind traditional routing, switching, and system design. 
  • Provide internal and external guidance on the key customer network, data center infrastructure, and security issues.
  • Ideal strengths and experiences include:
    • Expert level relationship management, communications skills, and interpersonal skills to manage face to face communications on a daily basis with multiple levels of customer management and engineering staff across multiple departments within the host company in a responsible and professional fashion.
    • Customer Culture – Development/Analytics environment.  The candidate does not need code development skills but needs to be able to efficiently describe basic TCP/IP/UDP and networking behavior/fundamentals to the developers. 
    • Must be willing to listen to customer ideas and work through potential designs that may or may not be implemented.
    • Ability to apply deep knowledge and experience to real-world scenarios, be it Broadband networks, Service provider IP/MPLS networks, Enterprise, Utilities, data center and/or transportation networks.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and work calmly under pressure.
    • Self-starter, team player, personable, enthusiastic, hardworking, and enjoys interfacing with customers at CTO level and internal cross functional teams including Sales , Project management teams , delivery teams, and operations teams on a day-to-day basis.
    • Familiarity, deep understanding, and hands on experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 RFC Standards / IETF Standards at Architect Level and senior engineer level.
    • Open to learning new technologies, LAB build outs, Test plan developments for acceptance tests, MOP creations and configuration creations

Experience

  • 15 to 20+ years of Telecom experience in the IP/MPLS networking industry with respect to Technical Pre-sales and Business Development
  • Working Knowledge and hands-on experience with Network layer 2/3, BGP, IGP, MPLS/Ethernet, MPLS VPNs, segment routing , VPLS, DWDM technology etc.
  • Strong Experience and hands on skills with layer 2 Ethernet switching networking concepts and layer 3 networking concepts the BGP, OSPF, ISIS , Segment Routing, IP/MPLS and traffic engineering, IPSec, VPN, MPLS, e-LAN, E-Line service delivery models, GRE, QoS, IPv4/v6, firewall and vpn concepts..
  • Strong Experience and hands on skills on Nokia Routing and Switching platforms, Nokia platform and SROS Architectures.
  • Expert level troubleshooting methodology to isolate and identify configuration, design, and software anomalies; ability to articulate findings in written and verbal communications with development level engineering staff and service delivery teams and other cross functional teams within the organizations and to external customers.
  • Hands-on experience with Fiber Access FTTH / GPON/XGPON technologies and related network , Layer 3 BNG design and deployment and experience with Calix/Adran/Nokia vendors is desired and a plus.
  • Automation experience with Python for test automations, Nokia VSIM Simulators, Red hat Linux and Ubuntu OS, Server knowledge , Server partitioning and VM creations,
  • MOP (Method of Procedure) and configuration generation (CLI / scripting) on devices based on L2/L3 network designs, test plan development and test case executions and design validations in the in-house LAB is desired.
  • Working experience with vertical markets, government, service providers is a plus.
