Top 4 Job Requirements For This RoleHands-on SAP Digital Manufacturing delivery — master-data and order integration with S/4HANA, POD design and plugin configuration, data collection and non-conformance handling.SFC lifecycle and SFC-to-batch design — creation, split, merge and completion, with one-to-one batch mapping to S/4HANA. This is central to the role.Batch, lot and cavity-level traceability — characteristic capture and re-derivation on split, lot merge and repack rules, and resistance to rebuilding legacy lot numbering. Required — see highlighted section below.Machine and factory-automation connectivity — SAP Production Connector, OPC UA, edge resilience during outages, and gateway approaches for non-standard protocols such as CC-Link   ,                       Key Responsibilities: :Lead manufacturing execution validation workshops across four plants and two divisions; produce signed-off functional design for the execution layer.Configure SAP DM master data: material, BOM, routing, work center and operation synchronization from S/4HANA via the Data Replication Framework; operations, data collection groups and parameters, NC codes and groups, resources and storage locations — adopting standard routing as the preferred pattern.Design order transfer and release from S/4HANA into SAP DM and the confirmation, yield, scrap and goods-movement flow back to the ERP, plus real-time inventory and component-consumption synchronization.Design the SFC model end to end: creation on order release, parent and child SFC structures across operations, splitting by lot size and down to cavity level, and the one-to-one SFC-to-batch relationship reported to S/4HANA.Design the Production Operator Dashboard per work-center type — molding, stamping, forming, welding, assembly, inspection, packing — with plugin configuration and the usability required for gloved, high-volume, multi-shift operation.Design paperless in-process and first-piece quality capture posting back to S/4HANA QM inspection lots, plus non-conformance, hold, rework, repair and return-to-previous-operation flows.Design machine and FA connectivity using SAP Production Connector, OPC UA and edge capabilities — including the gateway approach for non-standard protocols such as CC-Link — with offline resilience during outages, automated data collection from machines and inspection equipment, operator qualification and line-clearance gates, and OEE data capture feeding the analytics layer,                                    ■  BATCH MANAGEMENT & TRACEABILITY EXPERIENCE — REQUIRED
Hands-on Batch Management and end-to-end traceability experience is a mandatory requirement for this role. Batch, lot and cavity-level traceability sits at the center of this program; candidates without demonstrable hands-on experience in the following will not be shortlisted:The SFC-to-batch model in full: how SAP DM creates the shop floor control number on order release, how SFCs split across operations, and how each terminal SFC maps one-to-one to a batch in S/4HANA — letting individual lots run simultaneously on different machines while preserving batch-level traceability.Capturing batch characteristics against each SFC and copying or re-deriving them every time an SFC is split, including the enhancement programs that update collected data on split.Cavity-level traceability: splitting a daily machine/mold lot into sub-lots by lot size and then into individual cavities, carrying active cavity count and cavity identity through inspection and packing so a defect isolates to a specific cavity.Lot merging and combination rules — combining partial quantities from different production orders into one pack without loss of lot detail, splitting them again as combined, and unpack, repack and re-emboss cycles.Hold, rework, repair and scrap flows at lot level, including returning a lot to a previous or original operation and reporting remaining quantity as yield to S/4HANA.Lot numbering: date-, machine-, mold- and cavity-encoded structures, dynamic user allocation, handling of long (up to 40-digit) lot numbers through splits, and the judgment to test bespoke legacy formats hard against standard SAP number assignment before agreeing to rebuild them.Required Qualifications6+ years manufacturing execution / MES consulting with 2+ full-lifecycle SAP Digital Manufacturing implementations in a lead functional capacity. SAP ME/MII experience with a demonstrated transition to SAP DM will be considered.Deep hands-on SAP DM configuration: master-data and order integration with S/4HANA, POD design and plugin configuration, data collection, non-conformance handling and the DM–S/4HANA integration model.Demonstrable hands-on design of the SFC lifecycle — creation, split, merge, assembly, completion — and its mapping to S/4HANA batches. This is central to the role.Machine connectivity using SAP Production Connector, OPC UA and edge/plant-connectivity components, including working with plant automation teams on PLC signals and tag mapping.Integrating non-standard or legacy shop-floor protocols via middleware, gateway or file-based patterns; designing OEE data capture and the data quality it depends on.Solid functional understanding of S/4HANA PP, QM and IM, sufficient to design a coherent execution layer on top of them.Delivering paperless execution to operators, including POD usability design and shop-floor change management — and willingness to be on the floor across shifts during go-live and hypercare.Preferred QualificationsBilingual English/Japanese (business level) — this role has the highest day-to-day contact with Japanese-speaking shop-floor personnel on the program; prior delivery in Japan.Injection molding, stamping, electronics assembly or similar high-volume discrete manufacturing with cavity- or position-level traceability.Replacing a bespoke legacy shop-floor / lot-tracking system with standard SAP, including the change management that requires.SAP DM embedded analytics, Resource Orchestration or Insights.SAP BTP, Integration Suite and clean-core extension patterns for DM; camera/vision inspection integration and automated result-file ingestion.SAP certification in SAP Digital Manufacturing.Language Requirement — Bilingual English/Japanese Preferred, Not Required
Fluent professional English is required for design documentation, deliverables and steering-committee communication. Business-level Japanese is a strong advantage — many process owners, shop-floor personnel and legacy-system custodians work primarily in Japanese, and much current-state documentation exists only in Japanese — but it is not a condition of appointment. Interpretation support, bilingual design documentation and pairing with bilingual business analysts are provided, and strong candidates will be considered regardless of Japanese-language ability.
