SAP Fiori ABAP-Sr Application Developer - 11257
Job Title: Sr Application Developer - SAP Fiori ABAP
Experience: 8+yrs exp
Location: Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Noida, Hyderabad
Role Type: Permanent
Work Mode: Hybrid
Shift: 2 PM-11 PM IST
Design, build, and support SAP ABAP and Fiori enhancements, reports, interfaces, forms, and applications aligned to business requirements.
Role Overview
A technical role delivered under a strict clean-core mandate. The program has deliberately constrained its build: 79% of requirements are met by standard configuration, and the WRICEF objects will be gated behind conditions precedent — a validated requirement, a quantified benefit, and confirmation that no standard alternative exists — and extensions are delivered on SAP BTP rather than by modifying the core. This role needs judgment as well as skill: the largest technical risk on the program is over-customization, specifically rebuilding a legacy shop-floor system's bespoke lot-numbering and lot-handling logic one-for-one inside SAP. You will be expected to resist that.
Key ResponsibilitiesTranslate functional specifications from all workstreams into technical designs, honest estimates and clean-core-compliant build approaches; challenge designs better solved by configuration.Develop the report backlog using CDS views, RAP services and analytical Fiori applications in preference to classical ABAP list reports.Develop enhancements using released extension points — BAdIs, key-user and developer extensibility — rather than core modifications or implicit enhancements.Design and build interfaces between S/4HANA, SAP Digital Manufacturing, factory-automation and edge systems and the analytics layer, using SAP BTP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, API Management, Event Mesh) plus IDoc, OData, REST and file patterns.Build custom and extended Fiori applications with SAPUI5 / Fiori Elements, including shop-floor UIs usable on hand-held devices and gloved hands, with Japanese and English language support.Build the traveler / batch-card print program and forms carrying resolved machine, tool, hardness, mold, cavity and lot detail; implement quality, hold and disposition approval workflows; build the flexible master-data maintenance application if it clears its gate.Build the composite KPI CDS layer and the post-Material-Ledger allocation engine in the agreed architecture; enforce clean-core governance — extension registry, released-API discipline, upgrade-safety review, code review — and document objects so client IT can maintain them.■ BATCH MANAGEMENT & TRACEABILITY EXPERIENCE — REQUIRED
Hands-on Batch Management and end-to-end traceability experience is a mandatory requirement for this role. Batch, lot and cavity-level traceability sits at the center of this program; candidates without demonstrable hands-on experience in the following will not be shortlisted:Batch and classification data structures in S/4HANA — batch master, characteristics and classification, batch determination and status — and how to read, extend and report on them without breaking standard behavior.Batch number assignment: standard internal/external number ranges, the batch number BAdI, and the judgment to say honestly when a bespoke lot-number format genuinely cannot be met by standard next-number maintenance. Replicating legacy lot-numbering one-for-one is this program's largest over-customization risk.Batch characteristic copying and re-derivation on split and merge, including enhancement programs that update collected data each time a shop-floor control number is split.Cavity-level and sub-lot data: carrying mold, machine and cavity identity onto batch characteristics and onto planned/production orders via custom fields, and surfacing it on travelers, labels and packing documents.Traceability reporting: building forward/backward genealogy queries over batch data with CDS, integrating with the Batch Information Cockpit and Global Batch Traceability rather than rebuilding them.Interfaces that carry batch identity — SFC-to-batch one-to-one mapping with the digital manufacturing layer, vendor batch capture, batch data on delivery documents — and the handling of long (up to 40-digit) lot numbers through splits, an open design decision on this program.Required Qualifications6+ years SAP technical development with 3+ full-lifecycle implementations, including at least 1 on S/4HANA.Strong ABAP OO and ABAP on HANA: CDS views, AMDP, code pushdown and performance optimization; hands-on RAP and modern extensibility (key-user and developer extensibility, released APIs, BAdIs).Demonstrable clean-core delivery: extensions that survive upgrades, and the discipline to refuse core modifications.SAPUI5 / Fiori development including Fiori Elements, annotations, custom controls and launchpad configuration.Hands-on SAP BTP including Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, API Management) and event-based integration; Cloud Foundry or Kyma application development is an advantage.SAP integration technologies: OData, REST, SOAP, IDoc, ALE/EDI, the Data Replication Framework and file-based interfaces; forms and print output (Adobe Forms or SmartForms) for travelers, labels and packing documents.Development against PP, QM and MM/IM/WM with a working functional understanding of what those modules do.Preferred QualificationsBilingual English/Japanese (business level); prior delivery in Japan, including multi-language UI and print output.Integrating SAP Digital Manufacturing or an MES with S/4HANA, and machine/edge connectivity patterns (OPC UA; bridging non-standard protocols such as CC-Link via middleware or an edge gateway is a distinct advantage).Analytical CDS models consumed by SAP Analytics Cloud or SAP Business Data Cloud.SAP Build Process Automation or SAP Workflow Management.ABAP Test Cockpit, abapGit, gCTS and CI/CD for SAP.SAP certification in ABAP for S/4HANA, Fiori application development, or BTP Integration Suite.Language Requirement — Bilingual English/Japanese Preferred, Not Required
Fluent professional English is required for design documentation, deliverables and steering-committee communication. Business-level Japanese is a strong advantage — many process owners, shop-floor personnel and legacy-system custodians work primarily in Japanese, and much current-state documentation exists only in Japanese — but it is not a condition of appointment. Interpretation support, bilingual design documentation and pairing with bilingual business analysts are provided, and strong candidates will be considered regardless of Japanese-language ability.
Engagement Details
Full-time consulting assignment across the Explore, Realize and Deploy phases. Hybrid delivery with periodic on-site presence at the Japan sites during validation workshops, integration testing, cutover and hypercare. Reports to the workstream lead, working alongside client SMEs, client IT and the corporate global SAP template and clean-core governance teams.
