Position Overview:
An SAP EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) Technical (Basis) role combines expertise in the SAP BASIS infrastructure with high-level knowledge of the SAP EHS module. This technical role is responsible for the build, performance, integration, and stability of the EHS system itself. The candidate will be accountable for configuring associated bolt-on and third-party tools (WWI, GLM), providing expert guidance and support to clients throughout the configuration, build, testing, and cutover activities of their journey to SAP S/4HANA.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

System management: Install, configure, and maintain the SAP EHS technical landscape, which includes development, quality assurance, and production systems.

Infrastructure: Set up and manage the necessary hardware, databases, and operating systems to support the SAP EHS application.

Performance tuning: Monitor and optimize system performance, troubleshooting any issues related to work processes, logs, or disk space.

Change control: Manage the transport of configuration and development objects between different system instances to ensure system integrity.

Upgrades and patching: Plan and execute system upgrades and apply SAP maintenance patches to keep the EHS system up to date.

Data handling: Manage data loads, migration strategies, and data integrity for EHS-related information, such as specifications and regulatory lists.

Specialized EHS tasks:
o WWI/GLM servers: Installation, Configuration, management, and support of the Windows Word processor Integration (WWI) and Global Label Management (GLM) servers that are critical for generating compliance documents like Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and labels.
o Expert server: Administer the EHS Expert server, which runs rules for determining dangerous goods, product marketability, and other compliance checks.

Backup and recovery: Design and implement strategies for backing up and restoring the EHS database.

Technical troubleshooting: Provide technical support and resolve complex issues related to the EHS system.

Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation for system configurations, processes, and interfaces.


Key skills and qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in SAP Basis and infrastructure implementation and support projects.

• Strong background in SAP BASIS administration, including system installation, performance management, and client administration.

• Hands-on experience with the SAP EHS module, including its technical architecture and components.

• Experience with EHS-specific tools like the WWI/GLM and Expert servers.

• Experience with system integrations and data migration techniques.

• Familiarity with environmental, health, and safety regulations is a plus, as it helps in understanding the purpose of the technical setup.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with both technical and functional teams.
