Job Title: Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator

Shift Timing: 5 PM -2 AM IST

Location: Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Noida, Hyderabad

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure enterprise-scale DB2 databases on IBM z/OS systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in DB2 administration, coupled with programming knowledge in COBOL, Assembler, and PL/I, and a deep understanding of mainframe technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration:

• Manage and maintain DB2 databases on IBM z/OS mainframe systems.
• Perform logical and physical database design, including creation of tablespaces, tables as required.
• Execute routine maintenance tasks such as LOAD, REORG, IMAGECOPY, RUNSTATS, and RECOVERY.

Performance & Optimization:

• Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies for optimal efficiency.
• Conduct capacity planning and scalability assessments to support business growth.

Integration & Development Support:

• Collaborate with application development teams to integrate DB2 with COBOL, PL/I, and Assembler programs.
• Provide technical guidance for batch and online processing environments.

Security & Compliance:

• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Prepare performance reports and recommendations for improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience administering DB2 databases in a z/OS environment.
• Strong understanding of mainframe operating systems, JCL, and VSAM.
• Proficiency in COBOL, PL/I, and Assembler programming languages.
• Knowledge of database internals, performance tuning, and schema management.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with automation tools and scripting for database maintenance.
• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and performance dashboards.
• Knowledge of ITIL or other service management frameworks.Education:
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
