About the role:
As a Systems Engineer within the Security Operations Center (SOC), you will maintain and secure Linux-based systems in high-availability environments while ensuring stability and performance. You will monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure, manage core services and network components, and support automation and virtualization - working in a fast-paced SOC environment with real impact on critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain Linux systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS) in high-availability environments;
- Monitor systems (availability, performance, capacity, security) in a SOC/NOC context;
- Troubleshoot complex issues across OS, network, storage, and applications;
- Manage core services (SSH, systemd, Nginx, Apache, Tomcat, DNS, DHCP, NFS, etc.);
- Configure and maintain:
- Network devices (switches)
- Firewalls: Check Point and Palo Alto
- Implement security best practices (hardening, patching, access control, firewalls);
- Manage storage (LVM, RAID, iSCSI, filesystems) and backup lifecycle (execution, validation, recovery);
- Automate tasks using Bash, Python, Ansible or similar tools;
- Support virtualized environments (VMware, Proxmox);
- Produce technical documentation (runbooks, procedures, diagrams);
- Propose improvements in security, performance, and scalability.
What we are looking for:
- Strong experience in Linux administration (enterprise environments);
- Experience in NOC/SOC or 24x7 operations;
- Hands-on experience with:
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Check Point and Palo Alto firewalls
- Virtualization platforms
- Scripting/automation skills (Bash, Python, Ansible).
Bonus if you have:
- Linux certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC);
- Experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana);
- Knowledge of Zero Trust security models;
- Exposure to cloud or container platforms.
Work Model:
- Hybrid model;
- Regular on-site presence at client offices in Lisbon;
- Possible on-call / operational support rotation.
