The intern will support and handle coordination and communication responsibilities for various aspects of Data Center Operations, including but not limited to Change Management, Incident Management Process, Physical access control processes, and Service Request Management.

 

Job Scope:

  • Monitor incoming tickets for processing from the ticketing portal or via email and respond based on SLA.
  • Provide support to clients through the ticketing portal, phone or via email.
  • Perform power verification, power cycling of equipment and break-fix for servers and network devices.
  • Assist in troubleshooting physical connectivity.
  • Perform cable patching (copper, fiber cables and site surveys).
  • Tape change based on tape rotation schedule.
  • Manage and maintain cable inventory records, cross-connect records and periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) compilation of statistics and reports.
  • Work with vendor to resolve technical issues or supply and install of equipment or cabling.
  • Liaison with customers to provide them with activity updates.
  • Escalating issues are required to resolve issues as quickly as possible.
  • Work with other team members to coordinate proper dissemination of information and follow up on handing over duties.
  • Perform DC escort for vendor / customer.Receive / Send equipment or items on behalf of customers.
  • Provide customer service support based on the request.

 

Requirements:

  • Data Center Concepts: Familiarity with basic date center concepts, including power and cooling systems, networking, server hardware, and data storage.
  • Networking Basics: Familiarity with networking principles, including IP addressing, routing, switching and how data flows within and between data centers.
  • Operating Systems: Understanding of various operating systems, especially Windows and Linux, is beneficial. Ability to perform basic system administration tasks.
  • Hardware Knowledge: Familiarity with server hardware components, including CPUs, memory, storage devices, and RAID configurations. This knowledge can be helpful for troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Virtualization: Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V can be advantageous.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: An ability to diagnose and resolve hardware issues in a data center environment. Interns should be capable of basic troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Security Awareness: A basic understanding of data center security practices, including access controls, data protection, and physical security measures, is important.
  • Documentation: Proficiency in documenting procedures and processes is valuable. Interns should be able to create and maintain processes and procedures.
  • Eagerness to Learn: An internship is a learning experience, so a strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures is essential.
