Wireless Engineer — Richardson, TX

About the Role

1Finity Americas is looking for a seasoned Wireless Engineer to lead validation testing and integration of IFinity Radio Units (RUs) against customer requirements. You will serve as a hands-on technical leader, working across internal teams, partners, and customers to drive end-to-end RAN integration from lab trials through commercial deployment.


What You'll Do

  • Lead software, hardware, and firmware integration for LTE and 5G NR RAN systems
  • Define, develop, and execute detailed integration test plans for lab, field, and customer trial environments
  • Develop and execute integration Methods of Procedure (MOPs) in FNC, customer, and partner test facilities
  • Support customer trials and proof-of-concept activities, representing Fujitsu as a technical authority
  • Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams to validate Fujitsu RUs against multi-vendor environments
  • Audit, qualify, and evaluate third-party software features and applications
  • Conduct integration status meetings with partners, customers, and internal stakeholders
  • Document project status, perform analytics, and author final reports

Technical Requirements

RAN & Air Interface

  • Deep end-to-end RAN integration expertise across LTE, LTE-A, and 5G NR
  • Strong knowledge of BBU signaling across L1, L2, and L3 layers
  • Proficiency in PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC, and PDCP layer protocols
  • Experience with over-the-air testing of LTE, LTE-A, 5G NR, CPE, and UE

Fronthaul & Standards

  • Hands-on experience with CPRI, eCPRI, RoE, IEEE 1914, and xRAN/O-RAN (Option 7.2x)
  • Familiarity with 3GPP, IETF, ONAP, and 802.11 protocols

RAN Products & Deployments

  • Experience with Cloud RAN, software-defined networking, Massive MIMO, 5G macro, and small cell deployments
  • Core network experience with EPC and 5G NG Core
  • Network integration of RAN into mobile operator environments

Infrastructure & Software

  • Familiarity with NFV, software virtualization, VMs, containers, and VNFs
  • Knowledge of embedded software and PHY/MAC layer development
  • Familiarity with engineering design processes: design reviews, documentation, performance and defect analysis
  • Experience with Waterfall, Agile, and Scrum methodologies

Testing & Tools

  • Proven experience with protocol analyzers and test tools: XCAL, QXDM, Wireshark, Channel Emulators, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators
  • Ability to design and execute integration test plans across lab, field, and customer trial settings
  • Overall system performance verification experience required

Network Protocols

  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, UDP/IP, HTTP and HTTPS

Antenna design, beamforming, and interference mitigation for 4G/5G is a plus.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Experience: 7–10 years in LTE, 5G, and RAN network architecture
  • Test Tools: 7–10 years with industry-standard protocol analyzers and RF test equipment
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Proven ability to take ownership of project outcomes — driving urgent resolution of issues to deliver commercially viable wireless solutions
  • Comfortable interfacing directly with customer engineering teams and influencing technical decision-makers at all levels

As we are looking for a remote position, the disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. 1Finity aligns salaries to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each situation. The pay range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: specific skills, qualifications, experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. The pay range for this position is estimated at$116,480 to $186,368 USD. Additionally, this role may be eligible for a short-term incentive based on company results and individual performance.​
