Corporate Counsel
Dynamic technology solutions company seeks adaptable attorney for an in-house generalist position with a focus on litigation management. Responsible for representing the company in all pending and threatened disputes, especially intellectual property, employment, and commercial matters. Analyzes risks, manages trial budget, performs early case assessments, provides input on selection of outside counsel, oversees discovery efforts, coordinates efforts with overseas partners as necessary, and reports case status to company representatives. Focuses on risk management, compliance, and litigation prevention and readiness. Supports internal investigations and policy reviews. Helps develop and implement corporate policies, legal templates, and internal procedures and collaborates with in-house partners to manage corporate risk. Develops creative approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes. Reviews, drafts, and negotiates a variety of contracts. Oversees review, drafting, and implementation of nondisclosure agreements. Successful candidates will possess a solid business orientation and a commitment to collaborating with internal clients to develop practical solutions to a variety of legal issues.
Qualifications
Member in good standing of State Bar of Texas or California (other bar admissions may be considered).
Juris Doctorate degree from accredited law school.
Minimum 5 years’ experience managing intellectual property, employment, and commercial matters.
Direct experience in creating and implementing litigation strategy, undertaking and responding to discovery (including interviewing custodians, managing paper and electronic productions, reviewing and producing materials, negotiating confidentiality agreements, and preparing witnesses), drafting and filing motions and other court papers, advising and working directly with clients, and negotiating with opposing parties in complex litigation matters.
Knowledge of key commercial contracting concepts preferred – may be satisfied by close involvement in commercial litigation.
Strong written and oral communication skills (plain-English drafting strongly preferred).
Strong presentation and people skills. Ability to forge relationships with internal clients and witnesses, as well as outside counsel. Excellent collaboration skills and consistency in client communications are essential.
Experience trying cases and arbitrations (as a first or second chair) a plus.
Experience in regulatory or internal investigations a plus.
Demonstrated ability to learn and meet client objectives in a prompt, business-oriented manner.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team with a commitment to working collaboratively with teammates daily.
Facility with Microsoft Office required; Microsoft SharePoint experience a plus.
Flexibility and adaptability to change; intellectual curiosity and a passion for technology and innovation.
Time management skills; ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Conducting legal research to support business decisions or provide guidance in areas where laws are ambiguous or unclear.

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each situation. The pay range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: specific skills, qualifications, experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. The pay range for this position is estimated at $141,336 to $201,909 USD. Additionally, this role may be eligible for a short-term incentive based on company results and individual performance.
