Position Summary
The Technical Documentation Validator is responsible for validating customer-facing procedural documentation for Optical, Software, and Wireless products before publication. This role ensures that documented procedures are technically accurate, executable, complete, and aligned with product functionality.
The validator performs hands-on verification of installation, configuration, provisioning, administration, maintenance, upgrade, troubleshooting, and operational procedures to confirm customers can successfully perform documented tasks as written.
The role serves as a critical quality gate between content development and publication, working closely with Technical Writers, Engineering, DVT, PLM, Product Management, Support, and SMEs.
Key Responsibilities:
Procedural Validation
•Execute and validate documented procedures in lab, test, staging, or production-like environments.
•Verify installation, provisioning, configuration, administration, upgrade, migration, and troubleshooting workflows.
•Confirm documented outcomes match actual product behavior.
•Validate command syntax, CLI examples, API calls, screenshots, system messages, and workflow diagrams.
•Ensure prerequisites, dependencies, warnings, and validation checkpoints are correctly documented.
Technical Accuracy Review
•Compare documentation against requirements, release notes, engineering specifications, feature definitions, and product designs.
•Identify and document inaccuracies, omissions, ambiguities, and procedural gaps.
•Partner with Engineering and SMEs to resolve technical discrepancies.
Documentation Quality Assurance
•Verify compliance with documentation standards, terminology, templates, and style guides.
•Ensure documentation supports customer task completion and usability objectives.
•Confirm procedures meet customer-facing quality expectations.
•Validate consistency across related documentation sets.
Defect Reporting and Resolution
•Record validation findings and documentation defects.
•Provide actionable recommendations for issue resolution.
•Track validation issues through closure.
•Verify corrections before publication approval.
Required
Any degree with 5+ years of experience in technical documentation, product testing, DVT, systems engineering, technical support, or QA.
Preferred
•Experience in Optical Networking, Software Platforms, or Wireless Technologies.
•Experience validating customer-facing procedures.
•Familiarity with structured authoring environments and content management systems.
•Experience with AI-assisted documentation tools and automated quality validation systems.
