About the role                      

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Design & Deploy Engineer / Architect to join our Cyber Security team, driving the design, implementation, and deployment of secure technology solutions across customer environments.

This role combines deep technical expertise with solution architecture capabilities, ensuring cyber security controls and secure-by-design principles are embedded throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with customers, project teams, engineers, and business stakeholders to design, deploy, and optimise security technologies that support business objectives while reducing cyber risk.

The role offers the opportunity to work on complex enterprise, government, and critical infrastructure environments, contributing to security transformation initiatives and the deployment of leading cyber security solutions.

Australian Citizenship is mandatory. Current or reinstatable AGSVA NV2 Security clearance required.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Design and architect secure cyber security solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
  • Develop detailed low-level and high-level security designs, implementation plans, and deployment strategies from customer requirements.
  • Lead the deployment, configuration, integration, and optimisation of security technologies and platforms.
  • Provide expert technical security advice to customers, project teams, architects, engineers, and service delivery stakeholders.
  • Conduct security architecture reviews, threat assessments, gap analyses, and solution design workshops.
  • Ensure security solutions align with organisational security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry frameworks.
  • Support project delivery through all stages, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, transition, and operational handover.
  • Investigate emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and technology trends, recommending improvements and innovative security solutions.
  • Assist in security incident investigations, remediation activities, and root-cause analysis where required.
  • Produce and maintain architecture artefacts, security documentation, implementation guides, and technical standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed Secure-by-Design and DevSecOps principles into technology solutions.
  • Contribute to customer proposals, solution development, business cases, and technical assurance reviews.

 

Requirements and Experience

Essential

  • 5+ years of experience in Cyber Security Engineering, Security Architecture, Security Consulting, or Solution Design.
  • Australian Citizenship is mandatory. Current or reinstatable AGSVA NV2 Security clearance required.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and deploying enterprise security solutions across complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of cyber security architecture principles, secure design methodologies, and defence-in-depth concepts.
  • Experience implementing and supporting security technologies such as:
    • Identity & Access Management (IAM)
    • SIEM & Security Monitoring
    • Endpoint Security
    • Network Security
    • Vulnerability Management
    • Cloud Security Platforms
    • Data Protection & Encryption
  • Experience developing architecture artefacts, security assessments, and technical design documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities.
  • Experience delivering solutions within project and operational environments.

 

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft security technologies, including:
    • Microsoft Defender Suite
    • Microsoft Sentinel
    • Microsoft Entra ID
    • Microsoft 365 Security
    • Azure Security Services
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and regulatory standards including:
    • Essential Eight
    • ISM
    • PSPF
    • ISO 27001
    • NIST Cyber Security Framework
    • CIS Controls
  • Experience within government, defence, critical infrastructure, or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience with cloud security technologies and platforms, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and Microsoft 365 Security.
  • Experience supporting security audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance initiatives.
  • ITIL Foundation or experience working within IT Service Management environments.
