Job Title: Mainframe DB2 Developer
Shift Timing: 5:00 PM -2:00 AM IST
Location: Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Noida, Hyderabad
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 Developer to design, develop, and maintain applications on IBM z/OS platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in DB2, combined with programming proficiency in COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, and REXX, and a solid understanding of mainframe tools and utilities including DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS.Key Responsibilities:
Application Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, and REXX.
- Implement business logic and translate functional requirements into technical specifications.
- Experience with DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS.
Database Integration:
- Work extensively with DB2 for data modeling, SQL query development, and performance optimization.
- Support precompile, bind, and package management for DB2 applications.
- System Analysis & Optimization:
- Analyze existing code for performance improvements and implement enhancements.
- Debug and resolve application issues using tools like Abend-Aid and Fault Analyzer.
Batch & Online Processing:
- Develop and maintain JCL scripts for batch processing.
- Integrate applications with CICS and other mainframe subsystems.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation for systems, processes, and code.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and organizational policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, and REXX programming languages.
- Strong experience with DB2 and SQL in a mainframe environment.
- Familiarity with JCL, CICS, VSAM, and mainframe utilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex mainframe applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with IMS databases and RACF security.
- Knowledge of version control tools like Endevor or similar.
- Exposure to modernization initiatives and integration with distributed systems.
- Education:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
