Role: Lead ServiceNow ATF Developer (ITSM Suite)
Experience: 5+yrs
Shifts: 8 AM to 5 PM IST.
Work Shift: Hybrid
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead ServiceNow ATF (Automated Test Framework) Developer with strong experience in designing, building, deploying, and documenting automated tests for the ITSM product suite — including Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Requests. The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise with ATF end-to-end, deep knowledge of ServiceNow development best practices, and proven experience delivering ATF implementations at an enterprise scale.
Key Responsibilities
1. ATF Design & Development
- Lead the design, build, and execution of ATF test suites for Incident, Problem, Change.
- Knowledge and Service Request workflows.
- Create modular, reusable, and scalable ATF test cases aligned to customer processes.
- Ensure full coverage for form tests, server/client scripts, UI policies, business rules, workflow actions, Flow Designer, ACLs, and integrations where possible.
- Experience with automated testing in Portal, Catalog UI, and custom scoped apps.
2. ATF Deployment & Governance
- Drive deployment of ATF in Dev/UAT/Pre-Prod environments with clear release/test planning.
- Set up execution schedules, manage test result reporting, and define ATF governance standards.
- Establish best-practice naming conventions, repository structure, and documentation for test assets.
3. Expertise in ATF Capabilities & Limitations
- Clearly articulate what ATF can automate (e.g., form tests, client scripts, workflows) and what ATF cannot (e.g., certain integrations, UI actions, portal widgets, catalog client scripts).
- Design alternative test strategies for limitations — including manual scripts, mocks, stubs, custom automation, or integration-level testing.
- Share proven patterns from previous customer implementations for handling ATF gaps.
4. ServiceNow Development & Platform Enhancements
- Demonstrate excellent hands-on development skills (Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Flows, Integration Hub, Catalog, ACLs).
- Collaborate with platform architects and process owners to ensure ATF coverage aligns with platform changes.
- Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentor junior developers.
5. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Prepare detailed documentation (test design specs, execution reports, traceability matrices, limitations & workarounds).
- Conduct ATF demo sessions, workshops, and knowledge transfer for customer teams.
Required Skills & Experience
• 5–8+ years of overall ServiceNow development experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Automated Test Framework (ATF) across multiple implementations.
• Proven experience deploying ATF for Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Requests (ITSM).
• Deep understanding of platform architecture, scripting, Glide API, Flow Designer, integrations, and system performance.
• Ability to explain pros/cons, ATF best practices, and real-world limitations with examples from previous projects.
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
• ServiceNow certifications preferred (CSA, CAD, CIS-ITSM, ATF – Micro cert)
Nice-to-Have
• Understanding of enterprise testing strategies, regression cycles, and QA frameworks.
Why This Role Matters
This role ensures high-quality ServiceNow releases by embedding automated testing into the delivery lifecycle, reducing production defects, and increasing platform reliability across Incident, Problem, Change, and SR processes.
